Do you pay a fortune to cut and colour your hair? Or spend hours every week styling it to perfection, without paying any attention to the ingredients in the products you use? Yeah, we’ve been that solider.
There’s something about our face and body that makes us a little more careful about the ingredients we use. Hair tends to always come last, despite being our crowning glory. Or so they say!
So, in the last of our natural beauty series we’re shining a light on four of the best natural hair products on the market. And yes, there is an Irish one in there!
The vegan option
Pureology is a brand that’s not only 100% vegan but also has a patented ZeroSulphate formula, meaning nothing nasty appear in any product. It also uses aromatherapy principles to treat external factors such as stress – so even washing your hair at home feels like a treat. The new Superfood range follows all those principles AND is packed with natural ingredients, such as olive oil and goji berries. We love.

The organic option
Whether you have thin hair, frizzy hair or hair that needs serious TLC, Italian brand BIO A + O.E have you covered. All products are certified by Organic Cosmetics™, Vegan OK™, Plant Water™ and Pure Mountain Water™. Ensuring that they are not only the best for your hair, but also for the environment. The tailored 21-day hair-care programmes come with a range of formulaic products, including cleansing shampoos, enriching conditioners, protective serums, essences and masks. With sole use of the treatment range and products over 21 days, chemicals are completely removed from the hair and the hair’s natural goodness is restored.

The handmade option
Perfect for Afro hair, Soultanicals is holistic (and vegan) brand who believe only the very best natural ingredients should make it onto our bodies. Citing Mama Nature as their ultimate muse, they truly deliver on their beliefs. We love their body range, but it’s their hair range that made us really sit up and take notice. Never mind the fact that the names are just so damn catchy. Knot Sauce anyone? Chat rooms and forums the world over recommend it as the perfect product to detangle curly hair. And who are we to argue with the internet?

The Irish option
The Handmade Soap Company are known for their body products, but their hair products are slowly starting to gain cult status. Their shampoos contain no parabens, SLS and synthetic colours, so they won’t strip your hair of its natural oils. All products are also infused with natural oils to impact your mood. And, given that they started in 2010 in their founders kitchen with two pots and a plan, we love how authentic they are. A brand to watch.
