These days, our lives get busier and busier every day. Making the trip to a packed gym at peak times can fall low on our list of priorities, which is understandable. However we shouldn’t let our physical and mental health be compromised because of our busy lives. McSport is passionate about bringing the gym to your home. Here are six exercises to get your started. 

Get your space

Create a little bit of space for yourself. This doesn’t need to be a completely empty room, just an area that gives you enough space to carry out your exercises comfortably will be plenty. Push aside that coffee table, get your favourite music on and you’re ready to go. 

This sample workout consists of both bodyweight and light weight exercises to start you off with the basics. You’ll need a light kettlebell and two dumbbells which you can get on the McSport website.

As an introduction, the sets section below dictate the amount of rounds of the exercise you are to complete. Reps or repetitions is the amount of times you do the labelled exercise in one set/round. Fifteen seconds rest should be taken after each exercise. As for each exercise, perform them with correct technique and to the best of your ability. When sessions get tough, remember the reason why you started. To make the commitment of exercising easier, set yourself a realistic goal. Enjoy!

The workout

  • Kettlebell squat: 3 sets of 8-10 reps. 15 seconds rest.

  • Hex dumbbell standing shoulder press: 3 sets of 8-10 reps. 15 seconds rest.

  • Loop band & dumbbell hip thrusts: 3 sets of 8-10 reps. 15 seconds rest.

  • Lying hex dumbbell bench press: 3 sets of 8-10 reps. 15 seconds rest.

  • Bodyweight jump squats: 3 sets of 8-10 reps. 15 seconds rest.

  • Press ups (full body or modified on knees): 3 sets of 8-10 reps. 15 seconds rest.
