Do you want to run but struggle every time you download a couch to 5k app? Then you need these easy running tips

People who run really make it look fun. Who doesn’t love the idea of putting on a pair of trainers, heading out the door and being back within 40 minutes after a workout with clearer headspace? However, if you struggle to get in the zone then maybe you need these easy running tips?

Run with a friend

Apart from the company and the fact that you’ll be more likely to keep running dates if you’re letting somebody else down. Running with a friend will actually help you learn how to pace yourself. You should be able to hold a conversation while running. Yet often times we expel too much energy too early on, meaning we struggle to hold our pace. Running with a friend will help with this. While also giving you time together.

It’s ok to walk

If you need to take a break, do so. Walk. Walking is still moving forward, and it’s better to take a break and walk then to cut the whole session first. Just remember to keep pushing yourself each session so you see progress.

Stretch

Running can be hard on the body, especially if you’re new to fitness. So make sure you stretch before and after your session. Including mobility exercises may seem like an unnecessary step that’s easy to skip once you get home but your body will thank you for it in the long run.

Why do you want to run? Are you running for headspace? Are you running to feel and look better? Or are you running for a hobby? Whatever the reason you want to take up running, it’s important to set goals. Signing up to a 5k, a charity race or even a date with friends is going to help keep you on track.
