What’s On This Weekend: 22 February 2019

Wondering what to do this weekend? Here’s a roundup of the best wellness-inspired events taking place in the capital from ballet to breathing

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here’s the best of what’s on, wellness wise

What’s on in Dublin?

Breathworks For Superhuman Movement @ Platinum Pilates Clonskeagh

Whether you practice yoga, Pilates, crossfit or are a runner; breathing is something you may not ever have trained. Yet it is essential to your survival. Given the fact you breath 20,000 times a day, it’s one of the most effective ways to improve your health and performance.

Lots of things can have a negative effect on your breathing. From your posture to the way you sit to your stress levels and your emotions. Therefore, looking after your breath pattern is as important as exercising daily.

Join Milena Byrne for this workshop and learn the techniques that will help reduce stress and anxiety as well as increase energy. You will explore your breathing muscles and get a deeper understanding of the physiology of breath. You will then be guided on a meditation exploring the depth of this new breath pattern.

Sunday, February 24 from 2pm – 4pm. Tickets are priced at €30 and are available here

From Street to Studio: Ballet Choreography for Adult Beginners @ Liffey Trust

Always wanted to try ballet but never had the opportunity? Now’s your chance.

Join Dearbhla, Pilates and barre instructor and former lead soloist at the Monica Loughman Ballet, to learn the technique behind ballet steps and sequences and then put your new skills to work in a choreographed group routine.

This workshop is designed for adults with little to no ballet experience. The class is open to all fitness levels but it will be a physical afternoon.

Wear clothes you can move in. Make sure your bottoms are not baggy at the ankle, posing a risk of tripping. You can wear soft ballet pumps, if you wish, but bare feet or grippy socks are fine. No runners or any socks that you will slip and slide in!

Sunday, 24 February from 11am – 1pm. Tickets are priced at €25 and are available here

Lululemon’s Sunday Sweat with Ant and Ali

Turn the heat up this Sunday with Ant and Ali as they lead you through a HIIT workout, followed by a Toning Session. This class will be energetic, fun and is guaranteed to get your heart rate up. They will be starting off with a fast-paced interval workout, moving into a muscle burning routine, and then finishing off with a short meditation. Be prepared to leave it all on the floor.

The class is suitable for all levels. Lululemon will provide the mats and the moves, but advise bringing your own towel and water bottle.
Sunday, 24 February from 10am – 10.45am. Tickets are free but registration required here and it is first come first serve on the morning.
